Reliability and Safety of Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography for Detection of Myocardial Ischemia-Viability: Experience From 802 Consecutive Studies

چکیده
S tress echocardiography (pharmaceutical or exercise) represents an important diagnostic method for the evaluation of coronary artery disease (myocardial ischemia and/or viability). The commonest protocol applied in stress echocardiography is carried out with intravenous administration of dobutamineatropine. Although some adverse reactions may appear during this procedure, many studies have proved that it is exceptionally safe. Disadvantages of the method include its limited use in patients with a poor acoustic window, the need for an echocardiographic device with special capabilities, and the fact that it is a subjective, qualitative method which is very dependent on the echocardiographer who performs the study. In spite of its many advantages, there are only a few hospitals in Greece where stress echocardiography is routinely used for the detection of myocardial ischemia and/or viability in everyday clinical practice. The aim of this study was to present our experience from a large number of dobutamine stress echocardiographic studies performed in our laboratory for the detection of myocardial ischemia Reliability and Safety of Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography for Detection of Myocardial Ischemia-Viability: Experience From 802 Consecutive Studies

tolic function will improve after coronary revascularization (viability testing) [3]. In general, stress CMR is frequently performed with one of two protocols. The more commonly used protocol is myocardial perfusion imaging, which involves intravenous administration of a vasodilator (i.e., adenosine). Stress perfusion CMR allows the evaluation of resting LV contraction as well as detection of m...

متن کاملMR imaging of myocardial perfusion and viability.
CMR is a rapidly developing new modality with applications in clinical cardiology for detection and assessment of myocardial ischemia and viability. CMR perfusion results for the detection of ischemia in comparison with stress echocardiography and scintigraphic techniques are reasonable, but all the studies reported to date have been conduced in selected patients. Larger studies in patient popu...

BACKGROUND Low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography is increasingly used for identifying myocardial viability. AIM We explored whether dobutamine-induced strain (S) and strain rate (SR) can identify myocardial viability following fibrinolytic therapy for ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), taking (99m)Tc-sestamibi scintigraphy as the "gold standard" for diagnosis. METHODS...
